Our Tic Tocs nursery children eagerly anticipated sports day for various reasons. Firstly, for our pre-schoolers it was their very first silly sports day. It  also offered a break from the usual routine, injecting an extra burst of excitement and energy into the nursery  environment! 

The Benefits of Sports Day For Nursery Children

The prospect of engaging in friendly competition and physical activities generated a sense of teamwork and trust among the children. For many, sports day offers a chance to boost their self-confidence, build a sense of accomplishment and have plenty of fun, of course. 

We hold various activities and events across our Devon Nurseries – recently the children at Tic Tocs participated in silly sports day for the first time, experiencing a fun, friendly day filled with activities. 

The day started off by all of the nursery children being put into colourful teams of red, blue, yellow, and green. 

Once the teams were chosen, they competed against each other in lots of silly races and games, including: 

• balloon popping
• welly wanging
• big feet racing
• water pistol squirting

The children had a brilliant day competing against their friends and enjoyed having their parents, siblings, grandparents and other family and friends come to watch them, transforming the nursery into a lively space of celebration.
